Out to Learn believes that the outside environment is an important asset to our programs, enriching the overall quality of the participants’ learning experience. Because of this, most programs are tailored to the Kinark Outdoor Centre where outdoor demonstration areas have been carefully chosen and developed. Some of Out to Learn’s programs can be easily tailored to other schools and centres without specific outside demonstration areas. Listed below are programs that require little modification and are readily available for outreach. Readily Available Murky Waters Acid Rain Who Am I? Species at Risk It’s a Howl! Going on a Bear Hunt! The Bear Essentials Making Sense of the Night Out to Learn outreach programs are two hours in length and combine slide shows with discussion, instruction with hands-on exercises, explorations and fun related activities. Out to Learn provides all educational materials, handouts and props. Required from the facility is an indoor classroom, audio/visual equipment and suitable outdoor space where necessary. To ensure quality, programs are limited to a maximum of 25 people. For facilities located farther then 50 km from Carnarvon, ON additional travel expenses will be incurred and prices will vary accordingly. Out to Learn will customize additional programs but consultation to determine participant needs and wants, as well as available facilities will be required. Costing of customized programs is determined on an as-needed basis and we invite you to contact us to talk about opportunities at your facility.
